Michael Wilkes is not new to making websites. By the time he pitched me the idea of making a complete redesign of Leadership Based Dog Training, his business had already been online for a few years and he was well underway with a new online course project and landing page funnel.
A website that worked against him
He contacted me out of frustration with his previous website. Built a few years before by developers he had contracted, he now found himself with a broken carousel, old design and more importantly for his business, a completely non-functioning contact form, preventing any potential new client from contacting him.
Michael, just like many of our customers, shines through his domain specific expertise: he is a dog trainer. By passion and by profession, he excels at getting anxious, aggressive and leash reactive dogs under control. Through skills he has honed, he helps dog owners restore or build a lifelong bond with their favorite pup, while reducing stress on both sides.
Only one chance to make a good first impression
At Madinco, we believe that we only ever get one chance of giving a good first impression. In a world full of options and with limited attention span, it is essential to make those first few seconds count.
An image is often better than a thousand words, and, what’s better to capture the heart of dog lovers than… dogs? This is what we believe Leadership Based Dog Training’s previous website lacked. Besides the broken carousel, the former site bore bold, all-caps headings competing for attention instead of guiding it; the white-space (or lack thereof) failed to give the visitor room to breathe and appreciate the copy. To add insult to injury, the colors, heavy borders and overall layout made the website feel cold and dated. While this might feel like pure aesthetic nitpicking, it has a real, proven effect on visitors: feelings and intuition affect how we make decisions, especially when it comes to deciding who to entrust with the care of our most beloved companion.
The brand new website of Leadership Based Dog Training leads with a gorgeous picture of a dog playing, visibly happy and with a copy that immediately grounds what Michael offers, where and how: « Montréal’s Most Reliable Dog Training with real results », with a call to action to book a free consultation. The following sections then showcase Michael’s methods and expertise through a beautiful layout mixing text, photos and videos and adequately using colors, shapes, white space and geometry to guide the user. And you do not have to take our word for it:

More than a redesign
To further enhance the user experience and journey, we reworked the navigation, ditching the Transformations, Testimonials and FAQ pages (all now displayed on the homepage) and turned each of his service offerings into dedicated landing pages with JSON-LD support, showcasing all the information at a glance, including pricing, methods and conditions, with adequately placed calls to action to guide visitors to actually make contact. Furthermore, the whole experience was designed with Leadership Based Dog Training’s core audience in mind. The new palette, copy and layout feel warmer and more welcoming for young adults, particularly women looking to build a closer bond with their dog.
The contact form, now powered by Resend and protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, feels a lot more impactful. Visitors, now convinced they want to entrust their companion to Michael, can easily provide their information and describe their main struggles before going into more detail about their dog’s behaviour. At a glance they also get more information about what the free consultation includes, saving everyone’s time in one go.
Fast and built to last
Powered by Astro, hosted on our infrastructure and relying on Cloudflare’s global CDN, Leadership Based Dog Training’s website now delivers roughly seven pages optimized for search engines (SEO) around the world in milliseconds, with a better user journey, better shareability and this time, with a functioning and lightning fast contact form, regularly tested by our team.
